Artist’s Statement
My
friends ask me if I know
how lucky I am to be certain about what I want to pursue in
life.
This
knowledge is a gift that is not lost on me.
I am very grateful that finally at age 48, I could say that I knew
what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Now,
four years later, I am following a three-part path.
1.Experience
great art first hand
by entering every museum we get near. I always begin with visiting my friends
Van Gogh , Cézanne and Matisse at the Impressionist and Post Impressionist galleries –sometimes I don’t make my way
beyond them before closing time.
2.Study
with modern masters.
I do this in places like the Scottsdale Artist’s School, The Northwest
Rendezvous of Art held every year in Helena, Montana, Coppinni Art Academy in San
Antonio, TX - anywhere I can
meet successful artists, talk to them and watch them work.
3.Put
oil paint on acres and acres of canvas
to pursue the mastering of an art form. I expect that pursuit to take the rest of this life and at least part of the
next one. The more I know the more I find I don’t know.
When
painting, I feel as blissful and innocent as a 5 year old. I can only hope that as a collector, the
color and enthusiasm in the paintings blinds you to the flaws and you see only
the joy of the child in me that created them.
